Dartboards and Dart Cabinets in Utah

Darts is the easiest game to add to a game room. The board takes a square foot of wall space, the cost of entry is low, and a casual game runs five minutes. But darts is also the easiest game to look cheap in a finished space — a bare dartboard nailed to a basement wall is fine for a college house and out of place in a real game room. The fix is a dart cabinet, which is what we mostly sell rather than bare boards.

A dart cabinet is a finished wood enclosure that holds the dartboard and closes when you are not playing. The cabinet keeps the room looking clean, protects the wall from missed throws, holds your darts and scoring accessories, and turns darts from a basement-only game into something that works in a finished game room next to the pool table. We carry dart cabinets in finishes that pair with Brunswick, Legacy, and American Heritage pool tables and shuffleboards, so the cabinet does not stick out against the rest of the room.

The other decision is bristle versus electronic. Bristle dartboards play more like a real pub board, hold up longer to repeated throws, and self-heal as the bristles spring back when darts pull out. Electronic boards score automatically, are great for kids and casual scoring, and remove the math from the game. Both have their place — we steer most serious players toward bristle and most casual family setups toward electronic, but the right answer depends on who is going to use it.

Plan on at least 5 by 5 feet of wall space with 8 feet of clearance in front of the cabinet for the throw line. The cabinet’s open swing also needs a few inches of breathing room on the sides so the doors clear adjacent furniture. Most dart cabinets we sell come with a bristle dartboard included.
